Fostering Senior Dogs: They Don't Need “More.”

They may just need different.
When people think about fostering or adopting a dog, they often picture puppies, high energy, or a long list of “requirements” they’re not sure they can meet.
But many dogs don’t need more time, more training, or more energy from you. They just need the right kind of home.
Dogs like Waffles and Genesis are a perfect example.
The Dogs People Scroll Past
Adult and senior dogs are often overlooked in rescue—not because they’re difficult, but because they don’t fit the “default” adoption narrative.
They’re:
Past the puppy chaos
Already emotionally formed
Clear about what they like and need
That clarity is actually their greatest strength. But it also means they need specific homes, not just any home.
Waffles: The Companion-Seeker

Waffles is the kind of dog who wants to be part of your day. He’s medium energy, affectionate, and deeply people-oriented. He’s not asking for constant activity—he’s asking for presence. Someone nearby. Someone consistent.
He’d thrive in a home where:
Someone works from home or is around often
Companionship matters more than constant adventure
Calm connection is valued
These are his features—for the right foster.
Genesis: Calm Comfort in Dog Form

Genesis is quiet, sweet, and low energy. She doesn’t demand attention or excitement. She offers something rarer: peaceful companionship.
She’s perfect for a home that:
Is calm and predictable
Enjoys gentle routines
Wants a dog who fits into life instead of reshaping it
She needs belonging, in the right foster home.
What Fostering Dogs Like This Actually Looks Like
Did you know that fostering adult or senior dogs is often easier than fostering puppies? It's true!
Here’s why:
Their personalities are already known
Their energy levels are predictable
They’re usually grateful for stability
You’re not doing it alone—support is provided
Fostering is temporary. You’re not committing forever. You’re giving a dog time, safety, and a bridge to what comes next.
And that matters. It matters so much.
“But I’m Not the Right Person…”
Most people who are the right person don’t think they are.
You don’t need:
A perfect schedule
A huge house
Endless experience
You need:
A willingness to open your home
Honesty about your lifestyle
A bit of room for kindness
That’s it.

I'm glad I have gotten a chance to meet these amazing pups. Waffles is fun silly boy that just wants all the love and Genesis is such a sweet girl. They've both been through so much and I'm grateful for their foster for taking such good care of them while they wait for their forever home! 💕
As someone who has been only adopting senior animals for the last 11 years, I can tell you that all they need is love and to feel at peace. These seniors have become some of the best pets I have ever had. They need love and they are worth it!
Such sweet dogs! Really hoping they can find their forever home!
Boy, I wish my feline girls were accepting of these angels :(. I have met Waffes and Genesis and know that they are the sweetest and most loving dogs ever. I know they will find their next forever home soon! ❤️
These pups are so cute! I'm not in a place to foster, but I sure as heck can share their story!!
