For the Person Who Moves Slowly Too

Tipsy isn’t the kind of cat who will charm you in five minutes.

She won’t strut up to strangers. She won’t climb into your lap on day one. She won’t show you her whole heart right away.

Tipsy is the kind of cat who will change your life in five months.

She is small and quiet in her own way, even though she meows loudly. She’s a senior girl now, somewhere between 12 and 16 years old. Petite. Sweet. Deaf. And deeply, deeply cautious.

Tipsy lost her person.

Not in the way people often imagine. She wasn’t abandoned. She wasn’t unwanted. Her human died, and suddenly the only world she had ever known disappeared.

Since then, she’s been in foster care, trying to make sense of new rooms, new smells, new routines. She’s safe. She’s cared for. But she’s still waiting.

Waiting for a space that feels like hers. Waiting for a person who doesn’t rush. Waiting for someone who understands that love doesn’t always arrive loudly...even though she may be loud.

Tipsy is afraid of new situations. She startles easily when she’s paying attention. She doesn’t want to be picked up. Carriers are terrifying. Change is hard.

But once she trusts you — once she decides you are safe — she becomes something really special.

She will sit near you. She will bump your hand with her head to ask for pets. She will choose your presence again and again.

Not because she has to. Because she wants to.

Tipsy doesn’t offer instant gratification. She offers something much rarer: a slow, steady bond that feels earned. The kind that grows quietly and lasts.

She would do best in a calm home. No kids. No chaos. Just someone with patience, consistency, and the emotional space to let a relationship unfold at its own pace.

She’s good on her own during the day. She sleeps a lot. She’s fastidious about her litter box. She takes daily thyroid medication like many senior cats do. She doesn’t need much — just stability and kindness.

And time.

This is not a story about rescuing a cat.

This is a story about two beings who both need someone, finding a way to start again gently.

Tipsy is not for everyone.

She’s not for people who want an easy, confident cat. She’s not for people who want affection on demand. She’s not for people who need quick emotional rewards.

But she is perfect for someone who:

  • moves slowly

  • values companionship

  • understands fear

  • believes trust is built, not owed

  • knows what it means to start over

Maybe you’ve lost someone too. Maybe you’ve learned that rushing doesn’t work anymore. Maybe you’re softer now than you used to be.

If any part of this feels familiar…if you felt a little ache reading this…if you thought, “She sounds like me,” then maybe you’re the person Tipsy has been waiting for.

She’s been in foster care for over a year now. Not because she isn’t lovable — but because she needs the right kind of love.

The kind that’s patient. The kind that’s quiet. The kind that lasts.

And if you’re that person, we’d love to help you meet her.

I have had the privilege of meeting Ms. Tipsy, and she is such a sweet girl. She's an older lady who likes things the way she likes them (who doesn't really?), but really just wants to feel safe and loved. I know older cats are a hard sell for a lot of people, but as an owner of a 17-year kitty girl myself, I can say that it is so worth it to be able to give them happy and comfortable life and to see their personalities shine. Hoping you find your forever home soon Ms. Tipsy! 💕
